Manly Whingers Protest Against Sandcastle Competitions: “Sand Belongs on the Beach, Not in Our Shoes”

Manly, NSW – The Manly Whingers have turned their ire towards the beloved tradition of sandcastle building. “The aftermath of these competitions is atrocious,” complained Dusty Roads, a long-time resident. “I’m still finding sand in my car from last year’s event.”

The Whingers have proposed banning sandcastle competitions altogether or, at the very least, implementing strict cleanup protocols. “We need to think about the long-term consequences of these activities,” argued Carrie Meehome. “Sand is meant to stay on the beach, not invade our personal spaces.”

Event organizers are bewildered by the backlash. “It’s just a bit of fun for the kids,” said one organizer. “But if the Whingers have their way, we’ll be banning all beach activities next.” Tourists and families are rallying to defend the tradition, creating a rift between the community and the Whingers.

The Northern Beaches Council has expressed support for the sandcastle competitions but is open to suggestions for better cleanup methods. “We value community events that bring people together,” said a council representative. “We’re willing to work with residents to ensure the beach remains clean and enjoyable for all.”

Local businesses that benefit from the influx of families during these events are concerned about the potential ban. “Sandcastle competitions bring in a lot of business,” said a local ice cream vendor. “If the Whingers get their way, we’ll all lose out.” Despite the opposition, the Whingers are determined to see their campaign through, vowing to protect the beach from further “sand invasions.”
